Individual Attention
Each student is assigned an academic counselor. Academic counselor groups students based on the results of an initial assessment and their available schedules. Academic counselor is always available for students to discuss their class work and any concerns they might have.
Small Class Size
We try to create a classroom environment where a small group of students come together to learn and improve their skills in a particular subject. This helps teamwork on one-hand and at the same time motivates students to learn and compete. Each group will be taught by a well trained teacher. As required each student has an option of getting one-on-one help.
Class Room
Once signed up, each student logs in-to their scheduled virtual class room. Teachers and students share a whiteboard and communicate through a telephone conference session. Other tools such as application/screen sharing, private chat sessions are used as applicable.
A Typical Class
A typical class will be 1 hour long broken down into 3 sessions of 10, 25 & 25 minutes. First 10 minutes is spent on reviewing the last session’s work and answering any questions. The next 25 minutes is spent on explaining a concept through simple examples and providing tips on improving speed and accuracy. The last 25 minutes is used for learning to solve more difficult problems. At the end of each class students are given a homework assignment that includes some challenging problems. Students should submit their completed assignment before their next class for assessment and feedback.
Assessment
At the end of each topic, there will be a test to ensure that the students are learning the concepts and are equipped with skills to solve the problems.
Parent-Teacher Conference
Once every quarter, there will be a scheduled conference. Parents and students are encouraged to request a conference with their teacher or academic counselor to address any concerns or questions they might have in the interim. |
